Bodies on Body is an exploration into gender through projection. All film stills are derived from work where the construction of identity and gender are key elements of the narrative. These constructed identities are projected onto my own, overlapping in ways that create areas of absence, overlap and shadow. This projected light reveals elements but also conceals others. No one image or identity neatly aligns to the form being projected on. Is it in those alignments and incongruities that gender is defined? What is the measure of a man or woman, is it in millimeters, inches, feet?  Who sets these norms and how do those who don’t neatly fit them internally navigate these externalities?

I believe there would be value in continuing and further expanding this project. Exploring topics not solely confined to gender but also to include the multitudes of other lived experiences beyond my own.

Bodies on Body was part of SUM gallery’s first exhibition of 2026, Gender Mutual brings together six trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming artists — Liam Murley, TaliruqDee TwenteePaige BowmanAddison Finch, and curator-artist Jamie Lauder — whose practices illuminate the deeply personal, expansive, and often nonlinear journeys of living beyond the gender binary. Following a month-long residency at SUM gallery, the exhibition foregrounds self-determined narratives, embodied histories, and the many ways gender is shaped, challenged, and reimagined across diverse lived experiences. Through painting, textile art, photography, media work, and costume design, Gender Mutual amplifies voices often overshadowed, inviting audiences into a space of reflection, resonance, and possibility.
